Qosina Unveils Needle Holder

Despite well-intentioned safety measures, needlestick injuries still wound 385,000 hospital employees annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Qosina is aiming to reduce that number with its Saf-T Cube Needle Holder, a device made of ethylene vinyl acetate and polypropylene. The product features a double-sided adhesive to ensure stability and can be used to store all gauge needles, according to the Edgewood, N.Y.-based company. The Saf-T Cube is sold non-sterile and is ideal for inclusion in kits, trays and packs. It also is easy to use, enabling clinicians to prick a square patch of soft material rather than the flesh of their own hands. Maybe there’s hope yet for eradicating needlestick injuries.
